Dental assistants take on significant responsibilities as members of the dental team at the Center for Implant & Esthetic Dentistry. They are all graduates of state-accredited dental education programs. Their advanced education and training provide greater efficiency for the dentist that leads to excellent treatment results combined with an overall enjoyable experience for the patient.
The dental assistants at the Center for Implant & Esthetic Dentistry have worked together with Dr. Mahallati for many years. As a result, their long term commitment to CIED has created a smooth and efficient operation throughout the day, from the moment the patient enters the dental office all the way to the treatment room. When asked, “Why did you decide to become a dental assistant?” The response was unanimous, “Because I wanted to make a difference in a patient’s life.” For many, going to the dental office, it can be a very stressful and/or fearful experience. Our friendly and caring dental assistants put even the most anxious patient at ease, allowing for a calm and relaxing experience in the dental chair.

Maria Ocegueda
Maria has worked exclusively as Dr. Mahallati’s chairside dental assistant for the past twenty-one years. Throughout the years, this dynamic “dental duo” has perfected the art of teamwork in dentistry creating the ultimate results in oral healthcare. Maria, a native of Los Angeles, has been passionate about the dental field since her high school years that has led her to advanced education and training in dentistry. Patients are drawn to Maria’s empathetic heart combined with her attention to detail, providing a trusting and comforting environment. A passion for traveling, Maria also enjoys jogging, long walks and spending quality time with her husband and three children.
Melissa Tovar
Melissa is a native Angelino born and raised here in Los Angeles. Since a young age she has always been interested in smiles and as a result, chose this path. She is interested in learning about oral health and sharing her knowledge of Oral health with her patients. Melissa enjoys Photography and on her free time, she enjoys hanging out with family, going on new adventures and exploring the city of Los Angeles.
Genova Sanchez
Genova is a Los Angeles native newest member of CIED team. She is dually trained in both administrative as well as clinical aspects of dentistry. She is very passionate about dentistry and has been since she was in high school, which led her to study Biology at San Francisco State University. Patient care is her top priority and she makes sure patients feel welcomed and comfortable from the time they walk in and all the way to assisting chairside. Outside of CIED Genova enjoys traveling, going to the movies and spending time with her twin brothers.
